Macro Photography & Portraiture Both Require
Creative Perspective -Taking
I frequently spend hours at a time completely absorbed in, and mesmerized by, the world of macro photography. It's a place that I never knew existed, even though it has always been there all around me. Most people don't realize what they are missing.
I plan to present you with images that show off all of my tiny subject's intricate details that are not readily seen by the naked eye. I hope that they capture your imagination as they have mine. I will never look at some of them in the same way again.
I am now a captive of the incredible tiny world that lies just
"Beyond my camera's Lens!"
Hence the name of my business.
My macro subjects include, but are not limited to, a wide variety of flowers, snowflakes, various species of bees and butterflies, ladybugs, and many other insects.
My photography has helped me overcome an intense fear of spiders. At one time, I had nine pet jumping spiders but, no, I have never been bit. I have handled them many times. I have grown to appreciate many of the insects that used to make me run away screaming.
I now know that jumpers in particular have remarkable personalities and can be quite needy, especially when they are hurt. They make wonderful photo subjects because they are adorable! I had a baby jumper that I had trained to jump out of his enclosure and onto a cork to eat. He was so cute! You would be surprised at the possible interactions between them and humans.
I typically research my macro subjects and have become relatively good at identifying some spiders. I have done some reading about snowflakes, which is also fascinating, so don't be surprised if I share some of that knowledge within this website. It can be incredibly fun!
You probably wonder how a photographer who loves the macro world so much could possibly be good at photographing people.
That is an odd statement, isn't it? I think people are fascinating and I love the challenge of creating images that my clients will love. I strive to bring out the best in my subjects and my goal is to help them see the unique beauty that I see.
I will talk to my clients, prior to, and during the shoot, to determine what my client's desired outcome is and aim to make them pleasantly surprised by their resulting images.
I have included examples of some of my best business headshots and teenage portraits.
I am extremely creative and flexible. I am constantly thinking of interesting ways of photographing my subjects and wondering what other types of services I could offer that people would want. If there is some type of photo shoot that I do not have listed that you are curious about, call me and we can discuss it, because I love trying new things.
If you like my style, or would like to try something different, I am open to adventures. I love being creative, as I have stated many times now.
I love the outdoors.
I like getting a few candid shots, mixed with formal poses, while inspiring different kinds of emotions. You will see in my example images, some very silly expressions, some serious ones, and others. I am relatively laid back and I like to keep things informal to put everyone at ease.
A few additional services I offer include image touch-ups, special effects, and others. If there is something you might like, but I have not listed it, please just ask and I will let you know if I have the ability to help you.
I have recently been working with composites which I realize are not for everyone, but they are incredible if you have a child or grandchild who dreams of flying or frolicking in a field of daisies and dragons.
